Magic Mouse Review

ben:

The only reasons you shouldn’t get this mouse are if you are prone to hand camps or other hand and joint issues and/or you need auxiliary buttons for certain apps (usually CAD people like to have a middle click).

This is a great, simple mouse. Left Click and Right Click. Fantastic scrolling (Apple really knows how to do momentum scrolling right, after using the Wacom Bamboo touch I know that there is a right and a wrong way). Back and forward are a little awkward and they don’t work everywhere (I thought I would be able to use them for changing songs in iTunes).

Apple could do a lot this mouse in software. If they wanted to add a third button they could make a gesture where you tap the edges with both fingers or double tap in the middle of the mouse. It would be a shame if they just let it as is.

Thanks for posting the review. I tried one briefly at an Apple Store last weekend, and I really liked the way it worked in a few short minutes of usage, but it wasn’t tall enough for me. In other words, most of my hand was off the mouse. If it were made a little taller/thicker, I think I’d have one, but as it stands right now, I’ll think I’ll be hanging on to my blue Microsoft mouse.

Do you have any problems using it for extended periods of time? I don’t have any hand or joint issues (that I know of, hah), but in just a few minutes, it felt uncomfortable to me. Just wondering if I’m the only one, I guess…
